Golfers Group

GolfersGroup (www.golfersgroup.com.au) is a member organisation comprised of golfees, both men and women who pay a yearly annual membership fee and are able to purchase their golf products at what GolfersGroup MD Frank Ditta terms "almost cost".

GolfersGroup has negotiated with some of Australia's leading retailers to purchase product from them and we pass these savings direct to our members.

The idea of GolfersGroup came about when Frank Ditta, the MD of company, saw that there are a few "buying groups" in the golf industry and wondered why the public could not do the same thing. After a bit of research, he approached some of his mates at his golf club and the response was unanimous. All would join if he started it, so he did.

We sat down with Frank and asked him about GolfersGroup.

Q: What does "almost cost" mean?

A: "Almost cost" is a term that we use to explain the relationship that we have with some of Sydney's leading retailers. Legally, they cannot sell their product at "cost" (or list) price to us and we don't ask them to. So, we negotiated with them to purchase products at "almost cost" or say for example 1% above list/cost price.

Q: Why would they do this?

A: GolfersGroup provides them with additional sales volume for no additional cost. We bring them customers that they haven't had to spend advertising dollars to get and as their volume goes up, so does their rebate from their suppliers. So it is a "win-win" for everyone.

Q: How much is a GolfersGroup Membership?

A:As an Opening Summer Special we are giving Individual Membership (there is a Company Membership) for a limited time at $99 (normally $165) per year (inc-GST) and the only limitation on this membership is that you are limited to two sets of golf clubs per year.

Q: How does it work?

A: When you register and join GolfersGroup, you are provided with a Username and Password to access the Members Only section. In this section you fill out an online form where you list what product or products you are after. We call this an RFP or "request for price" on an item. When a price has been provided, you are notified via email of the price on the item or items and then you decide if you want to purchase it at that price. You are under no obligation to purchase anything.

Q: How much can I save?

A: It depends on the item. A member recently saved over $168.00 on one driver! Enough to pay for their Membership Fee on one golf club, not a bad deal. However, we cannot guarantee that prices won't change from our retailers at any time.

Q: How does GolfersGroup make money?

A: We only make money from the Membership Fee and from this we pay our website fees, administration, advertising, etc. We do not make one dollar on any product that a Member purchases. That is our promise to you and if we were to do this, our retailers would get in serious trouble as they cannot sell to anyone who on sells product. We would never wish to jeopardise our relationships with our retailers or our members.
