Find out Whats New in the Community for Women Golfers. - Mar 09 We welcome your news on WomenInGolf . Please send us your comments by clicking on Suggestion 3 Holes in One !!! "CHAMPAGNE, of course. Is there anything else?" club captain Noreen Mitchell said yesterday of how Carrington Park Golf Club marked the unique feat of having three women hit holes in one during Wednesday's competition. In keeping with tradition, the Rosebud club uncorked the bubbly for six-time club champion Libby Ashton and guests Brenda Thornell (a member at Devil Bend) and Sandy Johnson (The National) to toast their success. Mitchell was playing in Ashton's group and described her ace as "just a beautiful shot", adding that while there were five par threes on the course, all were recorded on different holes and none on the third, which you could fluke using a putter. All three of the champers' trio have some way to go to catch long-time Carrington Park member Edith McCrindle, who Mitchell says has made eight or nine aces in her career. Still, if they can maintain such a strike rate — only 58 women played on Wednesday, meaning 5.2 per cent of them made a hole in one — Edith's record could yet be challenged.
