Comming Facilities in WomenInGolf - look out for these in the comming months
Golf Clubs/Equipment.
We are seeking to provide more information about Golf Clubs and Equipment. Many of us ladies are using a set of second hand clubs or just half a set of clubs when we first started playing golf.
As our game improve and our handicap goes down, we might need to take a good look at our equipment and think of updating them. These are some questions you want answered:-
Most clubs suppliers' information is mainly focusing on men's game. We are currently in discussion with the clubs suppliers to provide information about equipment which is perhaps more informative and more suitable for women golfers.
Clothing and Accessories.
There is a lot of great gear and assessories out there! We have been always asked questions about them and where to purchase them.
We are associating with more clothing and assessories suppliers, so we can provide you with more information about the products and where you can purchase them.
Golf Tips
One great way to improve your game is to learn from the pros. ANNE ROLLO is one of our participating professional. She teaches and runs clinics throughout the year. Log onto to her profile on our site and contact her for her latest clinics. Here's Anne's TIP OF THE MONTH
Are you missing too many short putts You may be using too much wrist action in your putts. The putting stroke should be as much like pendulum as possible and to create this your arms and shoulders should initiate the stroke and not the hands and wrists. And quite often the worse you putt the more you try to poke the ball into the hole with your hands.
Imagine that there is a triangle formed across your shoulders and down your arms. (pic1) That triangle should move back and forth intact. (pic2) The triangle should not break down. (pic3)
Try putting a golf club across you chest to give the exaggerated feeling of using your triangle. (pic4)
Sally Smith is also one of our participating pros. Here is her "ABOUT YOUR HANDICAP"
Most beginners start with a handicap of 45. When I teach and play with these golfers, they seem to feel that breaking 45 is such a huge barrier. To all of you in this position, I explain that 36 used to be the maximum handicap. This change in maximum handicap has been encouraging to new players, but has changed the way they think about their ability or potential. Everyone's goal used to be to break 36 , but now they focus on 45. I have not yet met a golfer that cannot achieve a 36 handicap. What I suggest to all players is to establish what their "goal Handicap" is. For example, 36 is 2 shots per hole. You then work out your own regulation number of shots required to complete the hole to play to your handicap.
Eg 36 Handicap ? 2 shots per hole
Par 3's ? Regulation ? on the green in 3 shots, then 2 putts Total = 5 shots to play to handicap
Par 4's ? Regulation ? on the green in 4 shots, then 2 putts Total = 6 shots to play to handicap
Par 5's ? Regulation ? on the green in 5 shots, then 2 putts Total = 7 shots to play to handicap
This can be done for any handicap. Look at your card and determine where you get your chots. Allow 2 putts per hole and work out what your regulation number of shots are for each hole. Some holes will be easier than others, but it all balances out. You will be surprised how much easier it is to achieve your goals. It may also help you identify the areas of your game that need improvement.
